Every stage of a dispute

Chargeback protection from the first warning to the final decision

Most merchants find out about a chargeback when the money is already gone and the deadline is close. NoChargeback watches every stage of a dispute, so you act while you still have options.

  1. Early fraud warning

    What happens at your processor

The card issuer flags a payment as possible fraud, often before any dispute

    What NoChargeback does

Alerts you in minutes and shows whether a refund now costs less than a chargeback later

  2. Network alert

    What happens at your processor

Ethoca or Verifi passes a pre dispute alert from the issuer

    What NoChargeback does

Shows the alert with the order, and runs the refund or decline rules you set for your own account

  3. Inquiry

    What happens at your processor

The bank asks for information before filing a formal chargeback

    What NoChargeback does

Drafts a reply with the order details so the inquiry can close without a chargeback

  4. Chargeback

    What happens at your processor

Money is pulled back and a fee is charged

    What NoChargeback does

Builds the evidence pack for that reason code, drafts the letter, counts down to the due date

  5. Pre arbitration

    What happens at your processor

The cardholder or issuer pushes back after you won the first round

    What NoChargeback does

Flags it, shows what new evidence matters, and helps you decide whether to fight or accept

  6. Ratio

    What happens at your processor

Visa and Mastercard measure disputes against sales every month

    What NoChargeback does

Tracks your ratio per account and network and warns you at 70 and 90 percent of the threshold

How it works

How chargeback prevention works in four steps

NoChargeback connects to your processor once and then runs in the background. You see what matters and decide where it counts.

  1. 1. Alert

Disputes, inquiries and early fraud warnings appear in your feed within minutes, with the amount, card network, reason code and the date you must answer by. You get an email or a Slack message at the same moment, so nothing waits in a processor inbox for a week.

  2. 2. Evidence

For each dispute, NoChargeback pulls what the reason code needs: the order, customer details, IP address and location match, 3D Secure and AVS and CVC results, delivery tracking or login and usage proof, support emails, and the refund policy the customer accepted. It drafts a rebuttal letter written for that exact reason code and shows a win chance before you send anything.

  3. 3. Submit

You review the pack, edit if you want, and submit in one click. On Growth and higher plans the pack goes out automatically 48 hours before the due date, so a busy week never costs you a winnable dispute.

  4. 4. Monitor

  5. Draft my evidence

What happens every week

Disputes do not keep office hours. This is how a normal week looks once your processor is connected.

  1. Monday

    Packs drafted

New disputes and fraud warnings from the weekend are already in the feed, each with a due date and a drafted evidence pack waiting for review.

  2. Tuesday

    Needs response

You spend a few minutes on the packs that need a human answer, like a support email or a photo of a delivery, and approve the rest.

  3. Wednesday

    Submitted

Packs due within 48 hours are submitted automatically on Growth and higher plans. You get a confirmation for each one.

  4. Thursday

    Refund advised

Early fraud warnings with a refund recommendation show the math: refund now and lose the order value, or wait and risk the order value, a fee and a point on your ratio.

  5. Friday

    Below warning

The ratio monitor shows where each account stands this month. Prevention rule suggestions point at the products, countries or card ranges behind most disputes.

  6. Every day

    Won

Outcomes come back from the networks. Won, lost and pending disputes update your win rate by reason code, so you can see which evidence works.

Ratio monitor and return on cost

For the person who owns the numbers

Chargebacks do not only cost the order value. They add a dispute fee, usually 15 to 100 USD depending on the processor, they eat staff hours, and above a network threshold they put the whole merchant account at risk. The ratio monitor turns that risk into one number per account that you can watch every day.

  • Ratio per account and per network, updated through the month
  • Warnings at 70 and 90 percent of the Visa VAMP and Mastercard ECM thresholds
  • Recovered revenue this month, by reason code and by product
  • Disputes due this week, with the countdown for each one

A worked example with simple arithmetic

The starting numbers are hypothetical. Change them to see your case.

Take a store with 40 disputes a month at an average of 85 USD. That is 3,400 USD pulled back every month, plus 40 dispute fees. At 15 USD each, that adds 600 USD. Total monthly exposure is 4,000 USD.

The estimate assumes that complete evidence sent on time wins back one in four of those disputes more than today, and that alerts let you refund one in eight fraud warnings before they turn into chargebacks. That skips the fee and keeps the case out of your ratio.

Growth costs 149 USD a month on annual billing. In this example the subscription is covered several times over by the first month of recovered disputes, and the account stays further from the threshold that triggers fines and reserves.

Above the plan limit of disputes a month, so a larger plan fits this case.

LineMonthly amount in this example
Disputed revenue (40 x 85 USD)3,400 USD
Dispute fees (40 x 15 USD)600 USD
Extra disputes won with complete evidence (10 x 85 USD)850 USD back
Fees avoided by refunding 5 warnings early75 USD

Flat pricing

A flat price instead of a fee per alert and a cut of every win

Many chargeback tools charge per alert and take a share of the money they recover. The bill grows with every bad week, which is the week you can least afford it. NoChargeback charges one monthly price with clear limits.

A flat price instead of a fee per alert and a cut of every win
Topic Per alert vendors NoChargeback
Price model A fee for every alert plus a percentage of recovered chargebacks One flat monthly or annual price
Cost in a bad month Rises with every alert and every win Stays the same within your plan limits
Share of money you win back Often 20 to 25 percent None, you keep all of it
Getting started Sales call or onboarding project is common Create an account and connect your processor yourself
Evidence and letters Often a separate service Included for every dispute in your limit
Ratio monitoring Varies Included on every plan
Contract Often annual with minimums Monthly or annual, cancel anytime

Here is the same hypothetical arithmetic for a merchant with 50 alerts and 20 won disputes a month. At 25 USD per alert, alerts alone cost 1,250 USD. A 20 percent cut of 20 won disputes at 85 USD adds 340 USD. That is about 1,590 USD a month. On NoChargeback Growth the same month costs 299 USD billed monthly, or 149 USD on annual billing.

Security

Read and dispute permissions only

NoChargeback is built for finance and risk teams who need to know exactly what a tool can and cannot do with their money.

  • We request read access to charges, payments, customers, invoices, subscriptions and fraud warnings, and write access only to dispute evidence.
  • We never create charges, refunds, payouts or transfers. The permissions we ask for do not allow it.
  • Refund or decline rules for network alerts run only if you turn them on for your own account. They are off by default.
  • Processor credentials are encrypted at rest and all traffic uses TLS.
  • Disconnect an account and its stored credentials are deleted right away.
  • Uploaded dispute notices from the demo are deleted after 24 hours.

Glossary

Chargeback terms in plain English

VAMP
The Visa Acquirer Monitoring Program. Visa measures fraud reports and disputes against your settled sales. A merchant above the excessive merchant level, 1.5 percent in the US since April 2026 with at least 1,500 counted cases in the month, can face fines and closer monitoring. Your acquirer's notice is the final word for your account.
ECM
The Mastercard Excessive Chargeback Merchant program. A merchant usually enters it at around 1.5 percent of transactions and 100 chargebacks in a month, with fees growing the longer the account stays in.
RDR
Rapid Dispute Resolution from Visa, delivered through Verifi. Rules you set decide whether a dispute is refunded automatically before it becomes a chargeback, so it does not count in your dispute ratio.
CDRN
The Cardholder Dispute Resolution Network from Verifi. The issuer sends an alert before filing a chargeback, and you have a short window to refund and stop it.

Questions and answers

Questions merchants ask before they connect

Will NoChargeback touch my money or refund customers on its own?

No. NoChargeback reads payment data and submits dispute evidence, and the permissions it asks for do not allow it to create charges, refunds or payouts. Refund or decline rules for network alerts exist only if you turn them on for your own account, and they are off by default.

Do I need to change my checkout or write code?

No. You connect Stripe with a secure authorization in about a minute, and Shopify, PayPal, Braintree, Checkout.com, Adyen and Authorize.net connect the same way. Your checkout, your processor and your payouts stay exactly as they are.

What does it cost per alert or per won dispute?

Nothing extra. You pay one monthly or annual price, and alerts, evidence packs and letters within your plan limits are included. We never take a share of the money you win back.

Does it really win disputes?

It gives every dispute the strongest pack the reason code allows and sends it on time, but no one can promise an outcome because the card issuer decides. Before you submit, you see a win chance and a list of missing evidence, so you know where a pack is weak and what would help.

What happens if I reach my monthly limit?

Alerts keep coming into your feed and nothing is dropped. New evidence packs pause until your next billing period or until you upgrade, and you get a heads up at 80 percent of each limit so it rarely comes to that.

Which card networks and processors are covered?

Reason codes from Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover are covered. Processors are Stripe, Shopify, PayPal, Braintree, Checkout.com, Adyen and Authorize.net, and network alerts come through Ethoca and Verifi on Scale and Enterprise.

How fast do I see a new dispute?

Within minutes. NoChargeback listens for dispute and fraud warning events from your processor and checks again every few minutes as a backup, then alerts you by email or Slack.

Can I try it before I pay?

Yes, with the demo at the top of this page. Pick a reason code or upload a dispute notice and you get a win chance, an evidence checklist and the start of a letter, and after you create an account the full letter for that one dispute. Connecting your processor and sending evidence need a plan.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You cancel in the billing page in a few clicks, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

Is my customer data safe?

Yes. Credentials are encrypted, data travels over TLS, we only store what a dispute pack needs, and disconnecting an account deletes its stored credentials right away. The security page lists every permission we ask for.
